2-4 Installation and Wiring

Using an External 24V dc

Power Supply (optional)

The module has an external 24 V dc power jumper, J4, giving you the

option of using an external power supply.

Setting The Jumper J4

The jumper, J4, is located in the bottom right corner of the module’s

circuit board next to the power supply as shown below:

• With the jumper in the 1-2 Shorted position, the module draws

all of its power from the backplane of the SLC system.

• With the jumper in the 2-3 Shorted position, the module draws

its 24V dc power from the external power supply; however, the

module still draws its 5V dc power from the backplane.

• If the J4 jumper is missing, the module will report a 24V dc

power fail, regardless of whether external 24 V dc power is

present or not.
